Ever wanted to take all the snippets and snapshots of your life and do something with them? This is a class all about experimentation. We will try and succeed at transferring images from your imagination, sketchbook, and your life onto fabric and into a work of art. Great for beginners and old pros alike, we'll learn about photo-transfer techniques with glue and with the computer. After transferring your images, we will fuse fabrics, sew the to a background, and embellish them to your heart's desire. Anything goes. We'll discuss all the techniques, and then you will choose which one works best with your project.

The end-product may be a wall-hanging or an art book, or a series of journal-like pages, regardless, you'll leave with an array of tools for getting your images into your artwork.

Basic fabric manipulation
Create your own fabric and patterns through stamps, mono-printing and direct painting onto a piece of fabric. You'll learn how to cut and carve simple stamps to create your own patternÊ "language". You could make fishes, flowers, or letters.Ê Then we'll work up several pieces of fabric using colors of your choice, and go over ideas for a finished project.Ê Come with sketches, shapes, and stamps or interesting textures you have laying around the house.Ê Before you know it, you'll have your own stash of images and patterns on fabric.
